Executive Chair, Impact Investment Committee
Nathan chaired Nesta’s Impact Investment Committee with lead responsibility for governance of Nesta’s direct investment activity.
Nathan has been involved in venture capital and private equity investment in high growth businesses for nearly 30 years and has successfully backed companies across a wide range of sectors and from startups to buy-outs. As well as investing, Nathan has helped start two businesses in the creative sector. Originally an engineer, Nathan is a chartered accountant and previously worked at Arthur Andersen, Barclays Private Equity and Social Finance.
Alongside Nesta, Nathan is an advisory board member and founder mentor of Emerge Education, a leading edtech fund, on the Investment Committees of Sporting Capital and the Shared Lives Impact Investment Fund and non-executive director of a number of businesses. He is a Governor of a Multi-Academy Trust group of schools and is actively involved in voluntary work in the criminal justice sector.
We extend our impact through two specialised units that help people and organisations to solve complex problems and achieve their goals.
BIT helps clients from government, nonprofits and the private sector to improve people’s lives through our empirical problem solving and deep understanding of human behaviour.
Challenge Works designs and runs challenge prizes to spark innovation in science, technology and society.
