Fede [he/him] is the Head of Quantitative Methods in the Chief Practices Office.

Prior to joining Nesta, Fede was Lecturer and Faculty Statistician at the Faculty of Health Sciences and Sport of the University of Stirling, where his work focused on multidisciplinary collaborations to identify, understand and solve issues pertaining to the domain of national and global public health.

After an initial, incredibly stimulating period working with the Data Analytics Practice as the principal data scientist, Fede entered an exciting collaboration with Nesta’s Chief Scientist on the back of his interest in research methodology and research integrity. This led to the appointment as Head of Statistical Methods and Quality Assurance. He now plays a key role in supporting the organisation in setting and maintaining the highest methodological standards, with a specific focus on the application of quantitative methods.

He is also responsible for the creation and implementation of activities and processes that ensure Nesta’s practices and missions remain cutting-edge in their use of statistical methods, which includes identifying and addressing learning and development needs across the organisation. Fede also provides scientific and statistical advice to projects across the missions and is a core member of the EMERALD group.

Outside working hours, Federico enjoys cooking, board games, building and playing electric guitars and spending time with his family. He is a co-organiser of EdinbR and an active member of the Royal Statistical Society.
