James is the Research and Design Intern working in the Innovation Skills team.

James will be focusing on areas of research, content development, communication and community engagement with particular focus on the States of Change program.

Before Nesta, he spent five years as a researcher and assistant producer making, developing and collaborating on documentaries for the BBC and Channel 4. This work took him across the globe; filming in locations like a Manchester STI clinic; in India’s largest wholesale food market and the ancient customs of an indigenous community in Papua New Guinea.

After working in TV, James completed a Masters in Cities and Society from Goldsmiths University, looking at civic engagement in local government. He also worked at BOP consultancy as a researcher on projects across policy in the creative sector and as a field researcher for the market research agency, Ipsos MORI.
