We’re transforming the way society collaborates by breaking down barriers to participation, reimagining civic engagement, and rebuilding trust between people and institutions.
We use technology, AI, arts and design to scale public engagement - making it faster, more inclusive, more engaging and more impactful. We design digital tools and deliberative engagements that help public and voluntary sector institutions build trust and collaborate with citizens on the issues that matter - from tackling the climate crisis and living healthy lives to deciding how technology should be used and governed.
We help organisations deliver high-quality public engagement and make more informed decisions. We work with organisations to help them understand where and how collective intelligence can help address the problems they’re working on. We build digital tools for public participation, design and deliver innovative engagement activities and produce actionable research insights for decision-makers.
Our expertise is grounded in our extensive knowledge of a range of public engagement methods and the digital tools that enhance and scale deliberation and collective decision-making. The Centre’s multidisciplinary team brings skills in participatory methods, deliberation, software development, design and AI, and we have worked with organisations from the UN to the BBC. Our flagship Collective Intelligence Design Playbook is used by practitioners around the world, and our deliberation platform Zeitgeist has been used to engage the public on issues from climate adaptation to AI assurance.
We were commissioned by the Electoral Commission to ask the public one big question: can changing the rules on political party funding rebuild public trust in our political system? We found that political finance is a topic that most people arrive at with strong instincts but limited knowledge - but this can change. This report offers important evidence on key public priorities for the future of political party finance.
We partnered with the UK Government's Incubator for AI team to develop the AI Social Readiness Assessment: an innovative methodology that ensures the public has a decisive voice in how technology is governed and deployed within vital public services. It measures public confidence and trust in specific AI tools, and provides easy-to-understand advice on how to address public concerns.
