What I do

Ruth joined Nesta as the Scottish Programmes Intern supporting the Digital R&D Fund for Arts and Culture in Scotland and Age Unlimited Scotland including the creation of Rooted: A guide to growing your own social venture.

Based in Scotland, Ruth was the Programmes and Design Coordinator, in Nesta’s Dundee office. This role included working on a number of diverse programmes; Digital Makers programme in Scotland, internationally renowned creative enterprise work with the creative enterprise toolkit and the UK wide Creative Enterprise Programme - a two day course for creative supporters.

The Code for Europe programme supports the creation of shared digital services to help cities connect with their citizens in new and engaging ways. Ruth also worked to support Open Data fellows based in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, East Lothian and Clackmannanshire.

Ruth's role was to create elegant design solutions for workshops, services and outputs summarising the conclusions of previous projects.

Innovative design has an important role in tackling everyday problems. Ruth believes that it is through experimentation and collaboration that innovation occurs.
