What I do

Mariam worked on a range of projects with the aim of supporting policymakers andecision-makersrs in promoting innovation in the UK and internationally to tackle societal challenges and inequality.

Prior to Nesta, Mariam was studying for an MSc in Anthropology, Environment and Development at UCL. As part of her dissertation Mariam completed ethnographic fieldwork in Kenya researching farmer perceptions of and responses to climate change in the North Rift Valley of Kenya. Mariam has long been interested in social enterprises as a force for social good and has worked at a small consultancy firm in East London supporting social enterprises and charities. Passionate about education inequality Mariam won funding from UnLtd and set up a reading and creative writing project supporting primary aged children from disadvantaged backgrounds in her local school.
In her spare time Mariam enjoys exploring London's food markets and finding a good book to read.
