Mission Manager (Wales), sustainable future mission
Rhi is the manager for Nesta's sustainable future mission in Wales.
Rhi’s role is to identify opportunities to support the reduction in household carbon emissions from home heating and to ensure that Welsh residents benefit from the transition to clean heat.
As part of the wider sustainable future mission team, Rhi also works with colleagues across Great Britain to understand and address the common barriers to adopting clean heat solutions at scale. For example, Rhi has been leading work to simplify the process for flat owner-occupiers who face additional barriers, such as needing freeholder consent, when installing low-carbon technology.
Rhi holds an MSc Econ in Welsh Government and Politics, with a dissertation exploring the impact of Brexit on devolved policy-making. With a twenty-year career in sustainable development, Rhi developed her expertise in home decarbonisation as a researcher at Senedd Cymru (the Welsh Parliament), and later as policy lead for climate change in the office of the Future Generations Commissioner for Wales.
We extend our impact through two specialised units that help people and organisations to solve complex problems and achieve their goals.
BIT helps clients from government, nonprofits and the private sector to improve people’s lives through our empirical problem solving and deep understanding of human behaviour.
Challenge Works designs and runs challenge prizes to spark innovation in science, technology and society.
Join our mailing list to receive the Nesta Edit, our regular newsletter showcasing how we design, test and scale solutions to some of society's biggest challenges, with updates from Nesta, BIT, Challenge Works and the wider innovation sector.
