About Nesta

Nesta is a research and innovation foundation. We apply our deep expertise in applied methods to design, test and scale solutions to some of the biggest challenges of our time, working across the innovation lifecycle.

James Nolan

James is a behavioural scientist at Nesta’s fairer start mission.

Before joining Nesta, James worked at Foundations, the What Works Centre for Children and Families, as an evidence and evaluation officer. He commissioned and worked on a range of evaluations in the children and families space, including feasibility studies, pilot randomised controlled trials and quasi-experimental designs. Prior to this, James worked as a research officer at the Early Intervention Foundation and as an English teacher overseas.

James holds an MSc in behaviour change from UCL and a BSc in psychology from the University of Warwick.

Outside of work James enjoys reading, spending time with friends and running long distances for no apparent reason.
