Programme and Operations Manager, Centre for Collective Intelligence Design
Joana is the Programme Development Manager, in the Programmes Capacity Development team (PDC).
The PDC is a shared resource supporting the organisational opportunity development, bid/proposal management and project delivery management.
Joana holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Relations from University Nova of Lisbon as well as a MSc in International Development from Utrecht University. Before joining Nesta, Joana worked for Transparency International based in Berlin (an NGO fighting corruption) and Skateistan (an NGO providing access to education through skateboarding). Over the past two years, she was a fundraiser for Sense International, a charity based in London supporting people with deafblindness worldwide. Where she was responsible for securing institutional funds from EU, DFID, Jersey Overseas Aid and Big Lottery fund for new projects in Bangladesh, Tanzania and Uganda alongside grant and donor relationship management.
Joana is originally from Lisbon, Portugal and outside of work loves surfing. She also loves sports like skateboarding and boxing and is interested in cooking, astrology and the art of pottery.
