About Nesta

Nesta is a research and innovation foundation. We apply our deep expertise in applied methods to design, test and scale solutions to some of the biggest challenges of our time, working across the innovation lifecycle.

Toby leads Nesta's strategy and delivery teams, working to identify the most impactful problems for Nesta to tackle, and enabling the organisation to make rapid progress against them.

Toby's previous roles include advising the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust on strategy and innovation, leading venture studio programmes at Alloy Partners to design, test and launch high-impact ventures, serving as the deputy director for strategy at MassHealth (the Medicaid Agency for Massachusetts), and as a strategy and transformation consultant at Innosight. Toby's cross-sector career is focused on helping mission-driven organisations deliver outsized people-first impact through clearly defined strategy, operational excellence, and focused innovation.

Toby graduated Magna Cum Laude from Harvard University with an AB Honours degree in Social Science and Economics.

Outside of work, Toby can be found exploring new running routes, playing overly complicated board games, or forming strong opinions on the best cafes, restaurants, pubs and parks in London (and beyond).
