How do we give all children the best possible start in life and how does play influence positive life outcomes? Nesta in Scotland talks to... Paul Ramchandani - 20 Oct 2020 12:00 – 13:00

How does play affect a child’s learning and development and how can it help reduce inequalities and improve life outcomes in Scotland?

In this conversation, Nesta in Scotland speaks to Paul Ramchandani, LEGO Professor of Play in Education, Development and Learning at the University of Cambridge, about the potential of play in the early years of a child’s life. What play-based early interventions should be put in place to promote positive child mental health and help develop positive life-long attributes such as strength and resilience?

Professor Ramchandani will discuss the influence of play on children’s physical and mental health as well as their cognitive, emotional and social development and the roles of parents, communities and early years education organisations in promoting playful childhood.

In the wake of COVID-19 and widespread lockdown, how have the changes affected our youngest children? What lessons can we learn from the upheaval it has caused in our lives and what steps can we take to ensure the long-term wellbeing of children is paramount?

Join a discussion which explores how play can help Scotland’s children to flourish.
