The Democracy Pioneers Award is a grant programme operated by Nesta, who are solely funding the award. The award aims to champion and support front runners within Civic Participation and Democracy field (the “Award”). The Programme is being operated by Nesta and assessed by a selection panel of experts, the identity of whom will be drawn to your attention as part of the delivery of the Award.
This Privacy Notice explains how Nesta and its Award partners will use personal information collected for the purpose of the delivery of the Award. We are committed to protecting your privacy and we take all reasonable precautions to safeguard personal information.

If you make an application to the Award, you will be redirected to a third-party platform, Submittable Inc, to process that application. Submittable Inc are based in the United States and so your information may be stored and processed outside the UK and/or the EEA. Please see the Submittable Inc. Privacy Policy for more information. Please also ensure you read the terms and conditions of the Submittable platform as you will be agreeing to these when you submit an application.
We remain the controller of your personal information in this arrangement – the third party is only permitted to process your personal information in line with our instructions.
Each of our Award delivery partners and the members of the selection panel will be acting as a Data Processor of information relating to the delivery and assessment of the Award, and Nesta has an appropriate agreement in place with each of these partners and assessors. Any information that you provide to our partners and members of the selection panel will be used by them in order to deliver the Award and in particular, for the assessment and evaluation of the Award. Our legal basis for doing this is our legitimate interest of being able to work collaboratively with other organisations to deliver this Award.
