As part of your participation in the Classroom Changemakers award programme ('the Award Programme') Nesta will collect and process certain personal information about you. This privacy statement, together with our privacy policy, tells you about how we may use your personal information.

We will collect the following personal information about you:

  • name
  • photograph(s) about you
  • contact details including email address and phone number
  • current role
  • current school/college

We will process your personal information for the purposes of the administration of the Award Programme. We undertake this processing because it is necessary to fully assess your application, and if successful, to take steps to enter into an agreement with you (this is our legal basis for the processing).

If you are successful, we will publish your name, image, name of school or college you work at, details of your idea and the fact that you are a winner of the Award Programme. This may be accompanied by a short biography about you, which we will agree with you in advance. Our legal basis for doing this is to pursue our legitimate interest to maintain the integrity of the Award Programme by providing sufficient transparency about how it is run.

If you are entering as part of a group or team, the person completing the entry form is responsible for making sure that other team members are provided with this privacy statement before their information is submitted. In submitting their information to us, you are confirming that they have agreed to participation and to provision of their own personal information.

We may share your information in the following ways:

  • online on our website, social media channels and through our newsletters
  • with external experts on our judging panel
  • media channels including social media and press

What will we do with information relating to those who do not win an award?

We will only share your information to the extent reasonably required for the purposes of administering the Award Programme. Our legal basis for doing this is to pursue our legitimate interest of being able to work collaboratively with other organisations to operate and administer the Award Programme.

In addition to the information outlined above, we are are also inviting you to complete a short diversity monitoring form. This will involve us collecting personal information about your gender, age, disabilities and ethnic identity ('Special Category Data'). The information you provide in this form is used for monitoring purposes only and remains strictly confidential. It is stored in an anonymised form and not matched with an entrant’s identity. The diversity monitoring form is not used during any stage of the shortlisting or selection process. Our legal basis for processing this Special Category Data is your explicit consent. You have the right to withdraw this consent at any time.

We will keep your information for six years after the end of the Award Programme. We only keep personal information for as long as is necessary and we will securely delete information after this point.

The information published on our website (as described above) will remain on the website for as long as the website remains operational for the purposes of the Award Programme.
