Nesta Challenges was founded in 2012 as a dedicated unit within Nesta to design and run challenge prizes that help solve pressing problems that lack solutions, by shining a spotlight where it matters and incentivising people to solve these issues.

For a decade, Nesta Challenges established itself as a global leader in the design and delivery of high-impact challenge prizes that incentivise cutting-edge innovation for social good. Between 2012-2022, Nesta Challenges ran more than 80 prizes, distributed £84 million in funding and engaged with 12,000 innovators.

In 2022 Nesta Challenges became Challenge Works, a social enterprise founded by Nesta. View the full team.
