The Alternarratives programme wants to unearth the future of cutting edge short-form storytelling, encouraging writers based in the UK to think beyond the word document and use all the tools we have at our disposal to tell stories in new and exciting ways (the “Programme”). The Programme is being operated by Nesta and assessed by two selection panels, comprised of young people and experts drawn from a variety of industry backgrounds, the identity of whom will be drawn to your attention as part of the delivery of the Programme.

This Privacy Notice explains how Nesta and its Programme partners will use personal information collected for the purpose of the delivery of the Programme. We are committed to protecting your privacy and we take all reasonable precautions to safeguard personal information.

Nesta is the Data Controller of all information relating to the Programme. Please see Nesta’s Privacy Policy, which can be found on that site, for more details as to how we use your data.

We will use any personal information provided by you or your partners, including contact details for you and your partners:

  • for the purpose of assessing and evaluating your application;
  • to process your application for Programme;
  • to administer the Programme;
  • to carry out evaluation and research.

Any partners and the members of the selection panel will be acting as a Data Processor of information relating to the delivery and assessment of the Programme, and Nesta has an appropriate agreement in place with each of these partners and assessors. Any information that you provide to our partners and members of the selection panel will be used by them in order to deliver the Programme and in particular, for the assessment and evaluation of the Programme. Our legal basis for doing this is our legitimate interest of being able to work collaboratively with other organisations to deliver this Programme.
