What makes a great parks foundation? - 11 Mar 2020 14:00 – 17:00

From Redcar and Cleveland to Bournemouth, a new movement of Parks Foundations is emerging with the aim to enhance public parks that play an important role in our lives.

During this event at Nesta, we explored how interest in Parks Foundations has emerged in the UK over the past five years bringing new opportunities to the parks and green spaces sector.

Rethinking Parks team has the pleasure to support five teams of parks innovators developing local Parks Foundations. These are independent charities that support either one or many parks in a given area with time, expertise and funds.

This afternoon session provided opportunities for you to hear about their experiences in setting up a Parks Foundation and the Rethinking Parks guide to Parks Foundations that will be published online in March. We engaged with some of the teams during a short coaching session. We provided tips on whether a Parks Foundation is the right model for you and how to set one up.

The five Parks Foundations featured will be:

● The Bournemouth Parks Foundation
Redcar and Cleveland Parks Foundation - Parks Alive
Love Leeds Parks

Bristol and Bath Parks Foundation - Your Park
The Lake District Foundation

This event was aimed at local authorities or community members interested in setting up a Parks Foundation. Please register for the event to secure a place.
