This was the launch of our community empowerment through crowdfunded investment report at Nesta.

The report, in partnership with the Greater London Authority (GLA), explores how investment crowdfunding (e.g. using community shares or bonds) can be used to create more sustainable and resilient local assets, common spaces and shared resources. The research, with input from a range of institutions, funders and community projects, considers what these models are, the opportunities and challenges associated with using them and different ways in which local authorities and institutions can support this growing sector to achieve community-led change for local areas.

This launch event featured an overview of the key findings of the research, a chance to hear from groups who have used such models (e.g. community shares) to fund their community projects, as well as discussion from institutional stakeholders around the potential of the different models of support.
