Toby worked with local governments to develop and pilot improvements to services that support young children and families.
Before this, he led Nesta’s EdTech work, including the £4.6m EdTech Innovation Programme in partnership with the Department for Education during the COVID-19 pandemic. His published research focuses on topics including education technology, early childhood support and digital innovation in government. Prior to joining Nesta, he worked for a management consultancy.
He was a founder member of Sleuth, a cooperative data consultancy. He sits on the steering committee of Maths4Girls, is a governor at Hackney New Primary School and was listed as one of the 50 most influential people working in technology on the 2020 Tyto Tech Power List.
