About Nesta

Nesta is a research and innovation foundation. We apply our deep expertise in applied methods to design, test and scale solutions to some of the biggest challenges of our time, working across the innovation lifecycle.

To progress towards our mission of every child having the same chance of developing to their full potential in the early years, a central nationally defined single outcomes framework is needed.

In our report Towards a new era of integration in the early years we outlined our vision for an integrated early years family support system. While the headline target for such a system is to improve child development, there are a range of other factors that enable this overarching target.

We’re working with the Common Outcomes for Children and Young People Collaborative and building a shared focus on what matters most for babies, children and young people.

The Collaborative has done considerable work defining a set of outcomes for all babies, children and young people as well as their parents and carers. The Common Outcomes Framework can provide clarity, coherence and consistency across the system as the sector progresses towards the national target of 75% Good Level of Development.
