About Nesta

Nesta is an innovation foundation. For us, innovation means turning bold ideas into reality and changing lives for the better. We use our expertise, skills and funding in areas where there are big challenges facing society.

This event took place on Tuesday 3 October. You can watch the recording below.

The early-years sector faces significant challenges in attracting and retaining staff at all levels. High-quality childcare can be an equaliser, ensuring children from all backgrounds are ready to flourish when they arrive at school.

Watch our panel discussion at the Conservative Party Conference where we explored how to create a sector that attracts the best talent, nurtures their careers as early years professionals and provides high-quality care to every child regardless of their postcode.

In this session, our CEO Ravi Gurumurthy chaired a panel of experts across policy, education and early years to discuss what can be done to meet the future staffing needs of the early-years sector. This session was based on Nesta’s own analysis around the potential shortfall in staff by 2025, as well as discussing a number of recommendations.
