Programme Manager, Digital Arts & Media
Sam Mitchell was a Programme Manager in the Digital Arts & Media team at Nesta
He worked across a range of areas such as crowdfunding and business acceleration. Previously he was the Research Manager for the Digital R&D Fund for the Arts. He managed the annual Digital Culture survey, along with a range of other evaluation and research activities related to the Fund.
Prior to Nesta, Sam was Head of Research at Creative & Cultural Skills, where he led a programme of evaluation and research focused on the skills and educational needs of people working within the creative industries. He’s worked on projects with a range of organisations across the arts and cultural sector, including Arts Council England, the British Council, A New Direction and English Heritage.
Sam has a background in humanities-based research and holds an MA from UCL in modern history and a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Leeds.

BIT helps clients from government, nonprofits and the private sector to improve people’s lives through our empirical problem solving and deep understanding of human behaviour.
Challenge Works designs and runs challenge prizes to spark innovation in science, technology and society.
