About Nesta

Nesta is an innovation foundation. For us, innovation means turning bold ideas into reality and changing lives for the better. We use our expertise, skills and funding in areas where there are big challenges facing society.

Sakina is Chief of Staff to Nesta's CEO, Ravi Gurumurthy.

Prior to joining Nesta, Sakina worked in Strategy at the International Rescue Committee in New York City, where she drove strategic initiatives at the global and programmatic level. Some highlights of her time at IRC include a deployment to Afghanistan to support the Country Programme in adapting to the new context following the fall of the government in 2021, including how to deliver a budget that increased fivefold overnight. She also worked in Jordan, Kenya and Tanzania during this time.

Before IRC, Sakina worked as part of the Covid-19 response at DHSC, and as a consultant at Boston Consulting Group, where she was part of the Social Impact and Public Sector practices. At BCG, she worked with various UK Government departments on delivering Brexit, including DExEU and DEFRA.

Sakina holds a BA in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the University of Oxford and a Masters in Public Policy from Harvard Kennedy School.
