Nesta is a research and innovation foundation. We apply our deep expertise in applied methods to design, test and scale solutions to some of the biggest challenges of our time, working across the innovation lifecycle.
Foresight Researcher
Richard was responsible for monitoring new developments and trends in science and technology for the Challenge Prize Centre.
He also researched new prizes to tackle challenges in high tech and natural science sectors.
Before joining Nesta, Richard worked for several years in business intelligence consulting looking at emerging technology in physical and life science sectors. Prior to that he lived for 18 months in Japan, studying Japanese and working for a love hotel company (it’s a long story). He has an MCHEM (Master of Chemistry) from the University of Oxford and an MSc in Science and Technology Policy from the Science Policy Research Unit at the University of Sussex, where he was awarded the Oldham Prize for outstanding dissertation.
In addition to science and technology, Richard is passionate about cinema and in his spare time he produces short films, gets involved in film festivals and contributes to a small independent film label.
We extend our impact through two specialised units that help people and organisations to solve complex problems and achieve their goals.
BIT helps clients from government, nonprofits and the private sector to improve people’s lives through our empirical problem solving and deep understanding of human behaviour.
