Nesta is a research and innovation foundation. We apply our deep expertise in applied methods to design, test and scale solutions to some of the biggest challenges of our time, working across the innovation lifecycle.
Director, a fairer start mission
Raj led Nesta’s mission to create a fairer start, focusing on narrowing the outcome gap between children growing up in disadvantaged households and the national average.
He enabled his team to set up innovation projects and partnerships exploring how to identify, test and scale promising interventions in partnership with local authorities.
For the three years prior to joining Nesta, Raj taught Mathematics and Economics at a comprehensive secondary school in East London. Before teaching, Raj led education projects at the Behavioural Insights Team, where worked for nine years. During this time he completed his PhD in the Economics of Education at the University of Bristol. Raj also has eight years of experience as an equities trader.
In his spare time, Raj enjoys learning the piano, yoga, and watching Tottenham Hotspur.
We extend our impact through two specialised units that help people and organisations to solve complex problems and achieve their goals.
