Matt leads Nesta’s Strategy, Finance and Ventures functions and deputises internally and externally for Nesta's CEO.

He was previously Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Practices Officer and led the creation of Nesta’s 2030 strategy. Matt joined Nesta from Evidence Action where he led an evidence-based programme providing access to safe drinking water to four million people in East Africa. Prior to that he supported the transformation of several international NGOs, including the International Rescue Committee where he led on global strategy across more than 40 countries. Before the IRC, Matt was a strategy consultant with McKinsey & Company in the US where he advised Fortune 100 companies on strategy and operations. As an entrepreneur he has co-founded a mental health startup and launched a strategy advisory business.

Matt holds a BA in Philosophy from Cambridge University, an MA in Human Rights from the University of London and an MBA from New York University.

Outside work he can be found playing the drums, hiking around Brighton, or enjoying the ups and downs of his hometown club, Leicester City.
