Mission Manager (Wales), fairer start mission
She/Her
Ellie is the manager for Nesta's fairer start mission in Wales.
Before joining Nesta, Ellie was the National Literacy Trust's Policy & Public Affairs Manager, advocating for literacy across early years, schools, and the criminal justice system. She also worked as a Senior Researcher at Cardiff Metropolitan University where she supported projects on teacher recruitment and retention, and the Curriculum for Wales.
Ellie has a PhD in Language and Communication from Cardiff University, where her research explored approaches to supporting children’s vocabulary development. She has worked as a freelance literacy and education consultant across Wales, and as a tutor and researcher in linguistics, speech and language therapy, and education and social policy. She also helped develop the Welsh Government's National Strategy for Education Research and Enquiry and its educational equity strategy.
Outside work, Ellie enjoys beach walks with her family and rescue dog, reading and singing in a community choir.
We extend our impact through two specialised units that help people and organisations to solve complex problems and achieve their goals.
