Chris works as a senior researcher, helping to deliver Nesta's mission by supporting work in democratic innovation, climate-sustainable policy and artificial intelligence for good.
Before Nesta, Chris worked as a lecturer in social neuroscience at Birkbeck College, University of London. Chris worked within a broader team of academic staff to deliver both undergraduate and postgraduate courses covering developmental, social and cognitive psychology. Prior to this he worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at Goldsmiths College, University of London, working on a three-year ESRC-funded project researching empathy and empathy-enhancing interventions.
Chris studied psychology at university, completing both his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at Queen’s University Belfast. Throughout his career to date, Chris has been highly involved in public-outreach events which have helped bring science to the wider public and has developed a passion for enabling access to science and higher education to those in vulnerable and underrepresented groups.
Outside of work, he likes to run, cook, watch movies and attend live music events.
We extend our impact through two specialised units that help people and organisations to solve complex problems and achieve their goals.
BIT helps clients from government, nonprofits and the private sector to improve people’s lives through our empirical problem solving and deep understanding of human behaviour.
Challenge Works designs and runs challenge prizes to spark innovation in science, technology and society.
