About Nesta

Nesta is a research and innovation foundation. We apply our deep expertise in applied methods to design, test and scale solutions to some of the biggest challenges of our time, working across the innovation lifecycle.

As group data journalist, Charlie helps Nesta find the human stories within its research, with a particular focus on data visualisation and interactivity.

Before joining Nesta, Charlie worked as a researcher at the University of Bristol and LSE. In this role, he was Centre Manager for the Economics Observatory – an ESRA-funded research initiative. He currently works as a freelance editor and communications consultant for several academic organisations, including LSE, UCL and the European University Institute.

Charlie studied Economics and Mathematics as an undergraduate before completing a master’s degree in International Development.

Outside of work, Charlie spends as much time as possible watching, playing and listening to music. He also enjoys reading both fiction and non-fiction, and writes blogs about topics that interest him, like films, music and the video games industry.
