This report sets out Michael Barbers beliefs about the importance of reforming education in the 21st century.

Key findings:

• Children and young people also need to learn how to acquire ever more knowledge, to connect apparently unconnected pieces of knowledge and indeed perhaps to create it.

• Schools should be equipping every student with the capacity to lead in their family, their workplace, their community, their world.

• Our school system needs to foster innovative capability in every young person.

In a speech Sir Michael Barber presented, he argues the importance of education and its crucial role in tackling social challenge - today and in the future.

He says education is the most powerful tool in confronting social challenges like climate change and poverty as it requries a new generation of engaged, imaginative citizens.
