Halima Khan, Executive Director, Nesta Health Lab, comments on The Health of People: how social sciences can improve population health launched today by the Campaign for Social Science:

"We know that helping people to manage their long term health conditions outside of a formal care setting is already reaping benefits across the country. But gaps in the evidence base are preventing large shifts in the allocation of commissioning budgets. The sector must prioritise not only testing which interventions work, but also for whom, and under which circumstances to support service commissioning and care planning. If this doesn't happen there will be a negative long-term impact on health and care budgets and outcomes."

Nesta Health Lab in partnership with Guy's and St Thomas' Charity is hosting The Future of People Powered Health at etc.venues St Paul's on 9th May, 9am-5:30pm. The second annual Nesta Health Lab event will explore the 'end of patients' concept and imagine a society where people play a bigger role in managing their health and wellbeing.
