After the success of our ‘Nesta Sparks: New frontiers in innovation data’ in May, we decided to follow up participants’ request to learn more about our methods and outputs in this follow-on event.

During this event we explored various techniques and dove deeper into the data and analytics we use and the outputs we produce. There was an interactive session during which participants had an opportunity to collaboratively build an innovation mapping project.

The event was aimed at anyone with an interest in the application of new data and methods to innovation policy questions. Participants from academia, industry, government and the third sector were all very welcome. Although you don’t need to be a data scientist in order to participate, some general knowledge of data science methods would be helpful.
