About Nesta

Nesta is an innovation foundation. For us, innovation means turning bold ideas into reality and changing lives for the better. We use our expertise, skills and funding in areas where there are big challenges facing society.

With the publication of the 10 Year Population Health Framework and Good Food Nation plan, our panel explored how we turn these policy promises into meaningful progress on increasing healthy weight.

We deep-dived into what has stopped policy ambitions being delivered to date. We explored the need for bold action on the highest impact policies, the importance of collaboration across government, industry and wider civil society, and the need to embrace innovation using test and learn approaches to help us go further, and faster, in improving food environments.

Frances Bain, Mission Manager at Nesta's healthy life mission was joined by an expert panel consisting of Jenni Minto MSP, Minister for Public Health and Women's Health, David Thomson, Chief Executive Officer at the Food and Drink Federation Scotland, and Jon Roden, Spokesperson at the Non Communicable Disease Alliance. The event was chaired by Pennie Taylor, an award-winning freelance journalist and broadcaster who specialises in health and care issues.
