About Nesta

Nesta is an innovation foundation. For us, innovation means turning bold ideas into reality and changing lives for the better. We use our expertise, skills and funding in areas where there are big challenges facing society.

Behavioural insights are ideas from psychology and economics that explain why people behave the way they do and help encourage positive behaviours. In the past, these ideas have been used to tackle problems ranging from tax collection to increasing the number of disadvantaged students attending top universities.

In this panel talk, we explored how a behavioural insights approach could be applied to EdTech platforms. In particular, we introduced to the Behavioural Insights Team’s evidence-based ‘EAST’ framework - a powerful methodology for applying these concepts to social challenges. We provided results from a series of recent experiments in which behavioural insights were applied to HegartyMaths - one of the UK’s largest EdTech companies.

During this insightful and practical session we provided clear examples of how these ideas could be applied in EdTech.
