2025 in review: policy ideas to tackle the UK’s biggest challenges - 9 Dec 2025 18:00 – 19:15

Join us for Nesta and BIT’s next instalment of: How to make good things happen, our event series that explores policy success stories from around the globe and draws learnings on how they can be applied in the UK.

In 2025, the UK government announced plans to tackle some of our most critical social challenges. The ‘10 Year Health Plan for England’ set out how the government will build an NHS fit for the future. The ‘Giving every child the best start in life strategy’ aims to improve child development in the early years. To accelerate progress in cutting energy bills and reducing fuel poverty, the Warm Homes plan is expected to launch.

Across health, education, economic growth, and net zero, the implementation of joined-up and preventative models has been a major focus of the UK’s policy environment. But what are the most compelling and innovative policy ideas and delivery models to emerge from the UK and beyond this year?

On Tuesday 9 December, from 18:00-19:15 GMT we’ll host a lively, interactive discussion where our lineup of policy experts will bring forward their ‘policy ideas of the year,’ sharing what works, what doesn't, and provide sharp analysis on how these policies will impact everyday lives for the better.

This hybrid event, taking place at Nesta’s London office will be of interest to policymakers, academia, NGOs, and anyone invested in shaping, designing, and delivering effective public policy. The event will be followed by a networking drinks reception.
