Sentimoto is creating a smartphone application that uses existing smartwatches to help older people. This application allows them, their family members or other carers to access wellbeing data on their smartphones, giving them the opportunity to make healthier lifestyle decisions or changes.

Founders Alessandro Guazzi, Maxim Osipov and Lisa Stroux met while in the final year of their CDT in Healthcare Innovation at Oxford University, and together realised the problem of caring for aging relatives was one they wanted to help solve. They knew that physical activity and environmental factors play a huge part in remaining healthy, and their products are designed to provide information on these elements. Cloud analytical software is then used to analyse the data to help the wearer make sense of it and ultimately gain more control over their own health.

The application is due to be released in summer 2016, with further products to follow. The founders note that technology to aid older people is usually accessible to the well off or to those in the health and social care system who have needed it for a long time; Sentimoto aims to democratise healthcare - getting products in the hands of anyone who can benefit from them.
