Everyone knows that creating value from big data requires the right skills, but what does this mean in practice?

At this event, we reported the first findings of a programme of research where we looked at the skills implications of the data revolution, in collaboration with Creative Skillset and The Royal Statistical Society.

The report is based on 45 interviews with experts in companies at the coalface of the data economy. It addresses the following questions:

  • What are the data analysis skills needs of leading businesses?
  • How do these companies find top data talent?
  • What are the good practices to build high-performing data teams, keep creative data talent motivated, and manage the risks of exploratory big data projects?
  • How do policy and education need to change to improve the supply of data talent?
