Small unmanned aviation technology is progressing rapidly and drones could very soon be an everyday sight in city skies across the UK.

Led by cities, the Flying High Challenge, part of Nesta's Challenge Prize Centre, seeks to position the UK to become a global leader in shaping drone systems that place people’s needs first. The challenge has comprised a collaborative engagement with five UK city-regions, central government, technology experts, firms and regulators to explore the opportunities and challenges of drones operating in cities.

On Monday 23 July we held Flying High: Shaping the Future of Drones in UK Cities, where we launched our new report and findings from the first phase of the Flying High programme. The evening included presentations and a panel discussion featuring key stakeholders and industry experts. Attendees had the chance to put their burning questions to our expert panel in a Q&A session.

The event brought together a wide range of stakeholders, including local and national government, industry experts, academics and others with an interest in drones and future cities and was followed by a networking and drinks reception.
