About the event

The benefits of the knowledge economy are currently confined to a small number of big companies or places, creating growing inequality. This Nesta report, produced in collaboration with Prof. Roberto Mangabeira Unger, sets out an alternative vision of a radically democratised knowledge economy, where benefits are broadly shared.

Prof. Unger is a leading political philosopher, author and politician. He was also a key influence and inspiration to Obama (as well as becoming one of his toughest critics), and served in Lula's government in Brazil as Minister for Strategic Affairs.

Joining Nesta's Madeleine Gabriel to discuss the report and its implications for economic and democratic alternatives in the UK and beyond was Prof. Unger, Nesta Chief Executive Geoff Mulgan, economist Mariana Mazzucato and Paul Mason, author of 'PostCapitalism'.
