About Nesta

Nesta is an innovation foundation. For us, innovation means turning bold ideas into reality and changing lives for the better. We use our expertise, skills and funding in areas where there are big challenges facing society.

We are recruiting for a Team Coordinator in our Mission Control Department

About Nesta

We are Nesta, the UK’s innovation agency for social good. We design, test and scale solutions to society’s biggest problems. Our three missions are to give every child a fair start, help people live healthy lives, and create a sustainable future where the economy works for both people and the planet.

For over 20 years, we have worked to support, encourage and inspire innovation. We work in three roles: as an innovation partner working with frontline organisations to design and test new solutions, as a venture builder supporting new and early-stage businesses, and as a system shaper creating the conditions for innovation.

Harnessing the rigour of science and the creativity of design, we work relentlessly to change millions of lives for the better. Find out more at nesta.org.uk.

About the Mission Control team

We define and drive mission-driven working at Nesta by iteratively shaping strategy, rhythms, and routines to accelerate delivery towards our goals. This involves:

  • Designing, monitoring and iterating Nesta’s strategy
  • Driving portfolio and project delivery to achieve mission outcomes
  • Measuring Nesta’s impact and tracking our progress
  • Iterating our approach to mission-driven working

How will a Team Coordinator contribute to Nesta’s success?

You will support Mission Control and our Mission Programme Teams by helping us to effectively collaborate and stay coordinated, and by performing administrative tasks.

Alongside your core duties, you have the opportunity to support Mission Control and Missions Programme Teams, either through support on the delivery of internal change projects, occasional support to Mission projects and/or through working as a mission representative feeding into critical organisational priorities such as Nesta’s dedication to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion or helping to embed our Whatever it Takes culture.

What we’re looking for — Beyond the tasks

When reviewing applications, we’ll be looking not just for what you’ve done, but how you work; how you think through problems, adapt in uncertainty, and support others around you. We’re especially interested in signs of critical thinking, creativity, and compassion. In your CV and written answers, feel free to share not just achievements, but the approach behind them.

The role

In your role as Team Coordinator you will work closely with everyone in Mission Control, particularly the leadership team, to:

  • Keep us communicating clearly: Maintain shared documents and templates, help manage internal comms and updates, and ensure information flows smoothly across and within teams.
  • Develop & support a collaborative environment: Ensure the teams within Mission Control stay aligned on common goals by being the link between them, working closely with Mission Control leadership to do this.
  • Coordinate calendars and meetings: Schedule meetings and workshops, prepare agendas and notes, and help track actions to keep teams running efficiently.
  • Keep the team aligned and on track: Support colleagues across the Mission Programme Teams to use tools like Salesforce, follow Nesta’s business processes, and stay compliant with key project requirements.
  • Track budgets and support financial processes: Coordinate with Project Leads and Programme Managers to monitor project spend, and support financial planning during mid-year and year-end processes.
  • Help build team’s capabilities and confidence: Support the rollout of training, templates and guidance to help teams feel confident using Nesta’s systems and ways of working.
  • Plan and deliver smooth events and logistics: Work with others to organise team away days, support Nesta-wide team events, and handle admin tasks such as travel bookings and meeting logistics.
  • Support procurement and contracts: Assist Project Leads in procuring goods and services, ensuring alignment with Nesta’s procurement policy and helping coordinate contract processes.
  • Support onboarding and systems improvement: Help welcome new team members to Mission Control by coordinating onboarding logistics, testing and improving our tools and processes for doing so.
