Jorge Díaz is Director for Open Participation and Communities at the National Digital Strategy (NDS) in the Office of the President of Mexico.
He holds a Master of Public Administration and International Development from the London School of Economics. At NDS he is leading Red México Abierto, the first network of state and municipal governments focused on bridging the gap between national and subnational open data progress in the country.
Jorge also heads gob.mx/Participa and Atención Ciudadana, Mexico’s new online document consultation and e-petitioning platforms. Jorge has worked with different CSOs in field projects with vulnerable and indigenous communities, mainly focusing on boosting citizen engagement and government responsiveness.
He was part of Mexico’s UN office in Geneva, Citivox, a civic start-up, and more recently, he led the initial phase of Mexico City’s Open Government Platform, as part of a local non-profit. He has an eye for digital design and loves reimagining society’s role in policy-making.
