What I do
Vicki is a Director at Nesta and responsible for its work on government innovation using people power.
She oversees the design and delivery of practical programmes to support public and social innovation including the £14m Centre for Social Action Innovation Fund, focused on scaling a portfolio of 40 innovations that mobilise volunteers to support others in the fields of ageing, health, employment, young people's education and impact volunteering. She also oversees a number of programmes to replicate the most effective impact volunteering models such as Cities of Service (in partnership with seven local authorities) and Helping in Hospitals (in partnership with 10 hospitals).
Vicki is also responsible for the Innovation Lab's education team, including their work on Collaboratve Problem Solving and Ed Tech (getting the best learning technology into classrooms).
Vicki previously led Nesta’s practical work with cities to find new ways of stimulating growth and delivering public services. This includes Rethinking Parks (a partnership with Nesta, Big Lottery Fund and Heritage Lottery Fund), Mayors Challenge (a partnership with Bloomberg), Public Services Wales and the Innovation in Jobs programme.
Before joining Nesta in 2012, Vicki led the Young Foundation's public sector and international advisory practice, working with governments around the world, Whitehall departments, and more than 50 local authorities and NHS Trusts to design and embed innovations in public sector service delivery.
Vicki began her carer supporting regeneration and community initiatives in Sheffield working for both Sheffield City Council and the University of Sheffield.
