Rita is a collective intelligence (CI) designer, helping to apply the CI design process to environmental and health projects.

Prior to joining Nesta she worked at Microsoft Research within the TaiX team where she explored how human-centered tools and techniques can be applied to machine learning. Rita was involved in designing processes and practices for responsible AI development within the company. In addition to this, Rita worked with the blind community to design a teachable AI system that allows people to create meaningful, personalized experiences for themselves.

Rita has an academic background in product and service design and is interested in leveraging technology to create better futures. Her masters thesis on 'air pollution' explored speculative design as a trigger for behavioural change.

Outside work, she enjoys cycling, watercolours and rollerblading in the countryside.
