2015/16 Trends and dynamics within the alternative finance market
Rarely a day goes by without a story about alternative finance in the UK. In 2015 the many peer to peer lenders reported continued growth, with one platform hitting the £1 billion mark, the equity market saw its first exits and rewards and donations based platforms continued to expand their support to creative businesses, start-ups and community organisations.
At the same time new platforms continue to enter the market and traditional providers of finance are starting to get serious about their involvement in the market.
However, looking beyond the hype and the many individual stories of success and growth, what is the real size of the market and what can a detailed look at the industry tell us about the key trends and dynamics within the UK alternative finance sector?
Nesta has once again teamed up with Cambridge University, in partnership with KPMG, to try and answer these questions in our 2015 alternative finance market study.
This study will build on our past reports The Rise of Future Finance (2013) and Understanding Alternative Finance (2014), and we hope that it will give the industry, policy makers and the general public further insights into this rapidly growing industry and the impact it is having.
We will launch the research on February 17th, at the KPMG Headquarters, 15 Canada Square, Canary Wharf, London, E14 5GL
You can read more about the launch event here. Registration to attend this event has now closed. We will let you know if you’ve secured a place by 10th February.
