With £820 million spent on Scottish takeaways each year, more and more people are relying on takeaways for quality, affordable meals. But there’s a lot of choices out there for customers. Rising costs and big chains to compete with can make it hard to stand out as a small business.
For this reason, Nesta have launched The Better Takeaways Project, a programme to support some of Scotland’s independent takeaways in standing out and developing their menus to be the most delicious and nutritious they can be.
We’re looking for independent takeaway businesses in Scotland, who are happy to work with us over a few months and open to trying something new.
We are a team of researchers and designers working in a team called a healthy life at Nesta. Our work is about making it easier to access healthy food, by improving food systems in Scotland and the wider UK. Nesta is an innovation agency for social good, which has been encouraging, supporting and inspiring innovation for over 20 years. You can read more about our work by exploring our website.
Please to fill out a quick application form. If you meet the criteria above, we’ll reach out to arrange an informal chat. This will give you a chance to ask any questions you may have, and for us to tell you more about the project.
You can also get in touch with the team by emailing [email protected]. Applications will close at 6:00pm on Friday 31 May.
