Governments and citizens across the globe share many similar problems, from over-stretched transport systems through to low citizen engagement. Many look at digital technology to help find ways to solve these issues.

Civic Exchange, run by Nesta in association with Code for Europe partners, was created to show local governments they didn’t need to spend a fortune developing solutions on their own.

Below, we have brought together a collection of interviews with both the creators of civic apps and those involved in commissioning digital tools in local government. These profiles, written between August and December 2014, highlight the work of developers and decision-makers across the civic technology world.
