What I do

As Deputy Chief Executive Simon has responsibility for the effective day to day management of Nesta, and chairs the organisation's management board.

From HR and IT provision to building and facilities management Simon works to ensure that effective and efficient support services are provided to aid the performance of our busy and exciting organisation.

A highly experienced communications professional Simon also oversees Nesta's Communications and Skills teams.

Simon has held senior positions at the Institute of Fundraising, Home Office, Royal College of Midwives and the National Trust. He has also worked in charity and local government communications and as a journalist in the commercial sector.

Whilst at the Home Office Simon led one of the most comprehensive media engagement and public affairs programmes in the UK and had responsibility for strategic communications input to three Government sponsored arm's length bodies.

A passionate communicator Simon has an extensive background in marketing and public relations and is a multiple professional award winner in communications leadership and digital work.

The announcement that Lord Wolfson, the chief executive of Next, is offering a cool quarter of a million pounds to encourage the design of a new generation of garden cities is an interesting development.
