What I do

Simon is responsible for the management of parks & greenspaces, bereavement services and museums. He has been leading the Burnley Go to the Park Rethinking Parks project.

Simon received a BSc in Horticulture from Reading University and later qualified as a landscape architect at University of Central England.

He has spent over 30 years working in park management and design. An interest in community forestry led to the Forest of Burnley Project which plant over 1 million trees and doubled woodland cover in the borough.

He has also worked on major park restoration projects and is currently developing the Brun Valley Forest Park, which links together semi-natural, reclaimed land and formal parks.
