What I do

Moira is a Volunteer Project Manager at Sheffield Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, which is one of the funded projects in Nesta’s Helping in Hospitals programme.

Moira has worked at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals since March 2015 and was recruited as part of the Nesta programme to oversee the project. Before coming to the NHS, Moira was based at the local authority, managing a volunteer-led Citizen’s Reference Group which was part of an innovative joint social and healthcare project working to improve systems within health and social care. The group ensured that the people who received services were at the heart of the design principle.

Her role oversaw the coproduction of materials and consultation into new processes, working with medical staff and systems managers. As an active volunteer herself for local community initiatives, Moira also used to work in the Parks department, developing funding bids and management plans for capital and revenue projects in parks with local communities.
