What I do

Joe lead Nesta Impact Investments, a £17.6m investment fund for innovative social ventures in the fields of ageing, young people and sustainability. 

Joe is a board member of Bethnal Green Ventures, the leading accelerator programme for technology based social ventures, on the Advisory Council of the Impact Investing Policy Collaborative.

Biography

Joe has been as a senior manager at CAF Venturesome and began his career with the TeachFirst programme teaching in a secondary school in the London Borough of Hackney.

The Local Government Association has today published research on achievement and retention in post-16 education. It’s not good news, and reinforces the importance of the innovative work of our portfolio companies in the area of education and employability for young people.

Here at Nesta Impact Investments we are pleased to hear about the new tax reliefs for social investment promised in the Autumn Statement. It’s been glaringly obvious for some years that we needed to bridge the gap between tax reliefs on charitable donations and small company and venture capital reliefs.
