What I do

Emma Sutherland is a Research Assistant working across the Readie, DECODE and Education teams.


Prior to joining Nesta, Emma spent five months at UNESCO’s International Institute for Educational Planning in Paris. She has also worked as a high school English teacher and was an Associate in the Teach for Australia programme.

Emma holds degrees in Sociology, English and Education from the Australian National University and the University of Melbourne. As part of her studies, she completed an interdisciplinary programme at the University of Cambridge and spent a semester studying Comparative and International Education at the University of Oslo. When she isn’t relocating between cities, she enjoys baking, hiking and listening to podcasts.
